Has there ever been any talk about dismantling the British Royal family?
Its already happened. King Charles the first was beheaded and his family fled to France, for a period of some years we had no royalty, and those years were some of the worst Britain has seen. Eventually we returned to our senses and the son (Charles the Second) returned. Since then republican sentiment has been in the minority. As long as they behave with decorum and most importantly do their job calls to abolish the monarchy remain firmly a far left minority issue. That time when it was removed it took a war (the civil war) and it was nasty, now it would take a referendum, which wouldn't p. They haven't always been popular no, support for the institution moves up and down over the decades, support is easily over 70% now.
